My journey

Hi, I’m Sam — an Adelaide-based landscape photographer with a particular love for the coast, the ocean and the incredible landscapes we have here in South Australia.

You’ll quite often find me wandering along a beach with my camera, usually taking far longer than I intended because the light has changed, the clouds are doing something interesting, or I’ve spotted just one more composition I want to try.

I’ve always been drawn to the coast, so it’s probably no surprise that much of my photography features the beaches and coastline around Adelaide and South Australia. Marino Rocks, Seacliff, Port Noarlunga, Glenelg and Grange are some of my regular locations, but my camera comes with me whenever I travel too — particularly when there’s an interesting coastline involved!

More than just the postcard view

I love a beautiful landscape, but I don't necessarily want to photograph it exactly as everyone else sees it.

Over the years I've become increasingly drawn to more creative photography — long exposures, intentional camera movement and images that blur the line between photography and abstract art. I love movement, texture, unusual light and the smaller details within a landscape that are easily missed.

Sometimes that means standing in front of an amazing sunset. Other times I'm photographing patterns in the water, a tiny section of coastline, or something most people have walked straight past.

That's probably the thing I enjoy most about photography — finding something beautiful in a familiar place and showing it in a slightly different way.

Photography made for your walls

Seeing my photography printed is still one of my favourite parts of the whole process.

My photographs are available as fine art prints and canvas wall art, in a range of sizes from smaller prints through to large statement pieces. They're created for people who love the Australian coast and landscape as much as I do — whether that's because a photograph reminds you of somewhere special, or simply because you'd love to bring a little bit of the coast into your home.
